Use Your Gifts

We believe strongly that God gifts his people to be active members of Christ's body. We seek to help you discern your gifts and understand the needs that exist both in formal and informal modes of serving. We hope this page helps you see some of these needs.

Training is a big part of supporting you in serving. We have marked critical roles with a 🔴.

Make Sundays Captivating

🔴 Welcoming

Our welcoming ministry has always been important. It is even more important now with helping people through the changes in signing in and seating. We'd love your help.

🔴 Hospitality

Hospitality is how we display the love of Jesus to every person, new or regular, in church every week. Hospitality requires people at the door saying hello, food to connect over and good coffee.

🔴 Sound and AV Team

We continue to need audio people to mix the sound. Our new need is to train up people to manage the video switcher and livestreaming. The system is designed to be easy to use and you don't need to be an expert. Found more below....

Service Coordinator Team

Ensure the logistical running of the Sunday service by overseeing volunteers, technical needs and service flow.

Music Team

Music teams captivate our hearts with the grace of Christ through leading us in worship.

Connecting With Our Community

At NEAC we like to care for our community and create spaces where relationships and conversation can grow. We are looking for people who love Jesus and want to share him in these spaces. We also need people who are good at specific tasks (gardening, bike repairs), as well as being hospitable and good at having conversations

Community Garden

Garden helpers connect with the local community by providing various assistance in the garden and by forming meaningful relationships while working alongside others in the garden.

We Belong

We Belong is a group for adults with intellectual disabilities. We Belong leaders help with the fortnightly program by joining with members in activities, forming genuine friendships and helping members know about Jesus.

Junior Jivers

Transforming Lives

Transformation requires people who know how to teach God’s word to adults and children while also listening, praying and asking good questions of life and faith. If you are someone who is gifted in caring for others, teaching others and praying for others, these roles might suit you.

Jazz in the Graveyard

Jazz is a relaxed event in the St Stephen’s grounds with picnics and Jazz. It needs baristas, welcomers, planners and promotion.

Newtown Festival

Newtown Festival happens on the NEAC doorstep. It is such a big day we offer our grounds as a place to stop and relax. A BBQ, a jumping castle, some artistic elements and comfy spaces need to be created to welcome people in.

Christmas Events

We love to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. We decorate St Stephen’s church, the Erskineville carpark and play carols and tell the story of Emmanuel.

Movies in the Graveyard

Every summer we like to put on movies to enjoy the time of year and connect with neighbours in January. It requires a bit of set-up and a warm welcome.

Weekend at Home

Every year we come together as one church family and learn and grow together. It requires some thoughtful planning of catering, social times, decorations and promotions.

Easter Drama: To the Grave

Celebrating the death of Jesus is one of our favourite things to do, one way we do this is with a roving performance in the graveyard.

our vision
